When I moved into my first home I became more aware of all the bills. It was the first time that I realized that if I do not budget my monies I would get into a bad position. I soon learned that some things I can control, like the Electric Bill. Having the Air Conditioner turned down low when I was away was a waste of money. The opposite was just as bad. Turning the Air Conditioner too far up would make it work harder to cool down the entire house when I got home. The floor and the walls can get hot too. Everything in my home can warm up with the summer months. I slowly learned a happy medium to my trial and error was seventy eight degrees while I was away and seventy four degrees when I was home. Just a few degrees made all the difference.
To save a little more, Ceiling Fans from Manufacturers such as “Minka Aire”, “Fanimation”, and “Kichler”, can contribute to a much lower Electric Bill. When you are home turn the Thermostat up two more Degrees and turn on the ceiling fans to medium. Make sure the fans are turning in a counter-clock wise rotation. Always remember to turn the Ceiling Fans off when you leave your home. The circulation of the air from the fan will create a cooling effect while I am watching the Chicago Cubs compete with Cleveland for the “World Series”.
Lighting over the past decade has taken on so many wonderful changes. When “Spiral Fluorescent Bulbs” were introduced advertisements made it clear that I could save even more on my Electric Bill by switching to a longer lasting and less energy consuming bulb compared to its “Incandescent Bulb” counter part. The energy consumption of “Fluorescent Bulbs” is about one fourth compared to “Incandescent Bulbs”. Excellent products from “Satco” make it easy to read the package for a comparison. An example would be to replace a one hundred watt “Incandescent Bulb” with a twenty three watt “Fluorescent Bulb”. They both have the same light output in “Lumens”. The “Fluorescent Bulb” also has different “Kelvin Temperatures” available to choose from. “Kelvin Temperature” is best described as the color tone of the light. A “5000 Kelvin Temperature” has a very blue white color tone of light. A “2700 Kelvin Temperature” is the opposite with a very warm color tone of light, like candle light. The key to a smaller “Electric Bill” is to use less energy or “Watts”.
“LED” today is the best way to save on “Energy”. “LED” bulbs from “Satco” are so efficient and save even more on “Energy” than “Fluorescent Bulbs”. The “Satco” part number “S9287” uses only sixteen watts of “Energy” compared to a one hundred watt “Incandescent Bulb”. This “A21” size bulb has 1800 “Lumens” and a “5000 Kelvin Temperature”. This “LED Bulb” has a rated “Life” of twenty five thousand hours and is “Dimmable” with “Legrands”, “Adorne’ style of “True Universal Dimmers”.
“LED” Lighting products for our homes from, “George Kovacs” and “Sonneman”, can create beautiful and energy efficient sources of “Task Lighting”. “George Kovacs” model number “P5044-077L” uses only twenty two watts of “Energy” and creates enough “Lumens” for me to see while shaving. With a “Warm White”, “3000 Kelvin Temperature” I can see the spots I missed. “George Kovacs” offers this fixture in three different metal finishes of “Chrome”, “Brushed Nickel’ and “Dark Restoration Bronze”.
“Wac Lighting” has a division called “Modern Forms”. Beautiful and Contemporary LED Lighting fixtures for both inside and outside your home can be found here.
The exterior “Urban”, “Wall Mount Fixture”, model number ‘WS-W1116-BZ” is sixteen inches tall and seven inches wide. This fixture only extends two inches off the wall and is “ADA” compliant. I love the “Warm White” “3000 Kelvin Temperature”. This fixture has one size smaller which is ten inches tall and seven inches wide and one larger fixture of twenty two inches tall and eight inches wide. All three fixtures extend only two inches off the wall. Two ‘LED’ light sources are included. This Aluminum constructed fixture has very little glass to break in a windy storm and is dimmable with “Electronic Low Voltage Dimmers”. The three different size fixtures use only twelve watts, sixteen watts, or twenty watts of “Electricity”. “Modern Forms” is well worth researching.
“LED” “Recessed Lighting” products are one of the most affordable and cost effective ways to modernize your home today. “Beach Lighting” or “Halo Recessed Lighting”, from “Cooper Lighting” offers some of the best values on the market. Round and square trim options will allow you to customize your home for a clean and contemporary look. Both Manufactures offer a three inch series that uses a “GU10 LED Bulb”. The “GU10 LED Bulb uses only seven watts of “Electricity” and is compared to fifty watt “Halogen Bulb”. Five hundred “Lumens” of light creates an excellent amount of illumination for general lighting.
“LED” has taken over as the new direction in “Lighting” today. Longer lasting and more efficient products are being introduced every day. Technology is moving forward and creating wonderful products for your home or business. LED products can create incredible values of light with very little energy consumption. Different “Kelvin Temperatures” and even “Color Changing” “RGB” products will allow you to customize your environment. Air Conditioners for your home will cycle less often because LED products do not get as hot as their “Incandescent” or “Halogen’ counter-parts. When your Air Conditioner runs less often your Electric Bill will be smaller. Dimmers and LED products work well together when installed correctly from a “Licensed Electrician”. I always recommend consulting with the Manufacturer to ask for the correct dimmer type with their products. Less maintenance and small Electric Bills are awesome. “LED Lighting Products” will result in a smaller “Electric Bill”. As always thanks for visiting Lighting Miami
